Hello everyone again.. it's me.. Little Maeve. What a wonderful time I am having here, so different from that dreadful cage. Yesterday I went into the garden and WOW!!!! There was this green stuff which Linnet had told me was called a lawn and it was so soft under my feet and it had all these white flowers in called clover and they tasted so sweet. I've never tasted anything like that before. At the back of the lawn there is this huge hedge that reaches nearly up to the sky and is full of honeysuckle. There were hundreds of bumble bees buzzing all over it and it just sang. The sky was so blue and clear and it was all a bit overwhelming. Our Mum had put down lots of buckets of water to make sure we didn't get dehydrated.
It was a but strange when I first came out as I wasn't sure what to do.. yet another experience in my new life. Anyway I wandered down the path by the pond and the spray was coming up from the fountain and I got a bit damp.. wonderfully cooling... and then I thought I saw something coming up behind me, gosh did I jump!! Don't worry it was just the shadow of Rhiannon, Olwen and Brigid following me. I'm top hen in the Goddesses you see and where I go they follow.

Still I must tell you about catching my first worm. I was scratching around on the lawn and all of a sudden I saw this wiggly thing. Didn't quite know what to make of it but thought I'd have a peck and see what happened. Wooo Hooo!!! I caught it in my beak and went running across to show my Mum what a clever girl I was. She said something about pride and a fall but I don't know what she means. I was so intent on watching my wiggly worm that I went all cross eyed and fell over my own feet. You should have heard Linnet and Morgan cluck with laughter. I was holding it in the middle and both ends were wiggling about. They said it looked as if I had a Salvador Dali moustache.. whatever that is. Anyway I just picked myself up as if nothing had happened and wandered off. Think I might leave them alone for a while... but it did taste good.
Rhiannon is finding her way around as well and getting in to trouble. She likes finding places to hide in. Yesterday My Mum couldn't find her. She knew she was in the run somewhere but just couldn't see her. She opened the top of our coup and she wasn't there, looked under the trees, behind the honeysuckle.. nothing. It was nearly bedtime by now and our Mum was getting very worried. Olwen and Brigid were helping her to look.. well getting in the way really but it's helping to them.. but she was nowhere to be seen. as a last thought our Mum opened up the nest box where Linnet and Morgan sleep and instead of finding eggs found, you guessed it, Rhiannon fast asleep curled up in their bed. She was sooo relieved. She left her there and Rhiannon had her first ever sleep over!
Today when our Mum came home from work she couldn't find Rhiannon again, so she looked in the big coup an d she wasn't there, looked high and low. Eventually she found her. In our big run is something our Mum calls a broody coup and the door to it had been left open. Rhiannon, being the inquisitive hen she is, went inside and decided this was a safe place to have an afternoon nap and promptly curled up and had a doze. I can see she is going to be a handful. Well my Mum gave us both a lovely cuddle and put us back in our coup ready for bed. I was so frightened of being handled when I first came here as nobody had touched me before but it is so lovely to have a cuddle. When my Mum comes into the run I now run up to her and snuggle down at her feet so she will pick me up and give me a cuddle. Rhiannon is starting to do the same. I have yet to persuade Olwen and Brigid that cuddling is good but I will. give it time and they too will come to love having a cuddle.
Well I must go now as the sun is going down and after all the excitement of today I am a bit tired. Talk to you all again soon. Love Little Maeve.
My goodness, Little Maeve, you are having some adventures, aren't you? I'm glad you've discovered cuddles and I'm sure you'll soon persuade Brigid and Olwen that they make you feel all warm and snuggly inside.
